Cleveland Johnson

I hold a master’s in Translation Studies from UCL, where I underwent specialised training in translating technical and legal documents from English to Spanish and vice versa. My bachelor’s in linguistics from UCL focused on syntax and semantics. I am a member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI).

I focus on my ability to translate complex documents accurately, maintaining the integrity and tone of the original. I am hands-on in using translation memory tools (SYSTRAN) and CAT software (Trados Studio). My fluency in English and Spanish allows me to provide translation services for both.

My over ten years as a professional translator, both in-house and freelance, has seen me working with clients from various industries, including technology IBM, CTS), law (Clifford Chance), medical sciences (NIH, Bayer) and finance (Santander), and have translated diverse documents, including contracts, GRC contracts, White Papers, patents, medical records and financial statements.

I have authored several articles (SAGE journals) on the art of translation and the importance of cultural context in language translation. My most recent publication, ’The Challenges of Technical Translation, featured in the International Journal of Translation Studies (Target), has received critical acclaim from peers.
