Every page on this website is written to help someone decide an official document — which certification they need, what a receiving authority will accept, how long a translation will take, what it will cost. Getting that wrong has real consequences: a rejected visa application, a missed university deadline, a resubmission fee.
This page explains how our content is researched, written, reviewed and corrected, and who is accountable for it.
This policy covers the editorial content on this website: our blog, guides, service pages, case studies and FAQs. It is separate from the quality assurance process we apply to client translations, which is documented on our Quality Guarantee page.
Who Writes Our Content
Our content is produced in-house, drawing on the working knowledge of the people who run our translation and interpreting projects day to day.
Where a page covers a specialist area, we involve the relevant specialist directly. Our team leads include Charlotte Wood, Chief Linguist and Translation Operations Lead; George Thompson, Head of Quality Control and Linguistic Review; Amelia Johnson, Head of Medical and Pharmaceutical Translation; and James Miller, Lead Translator for Legal and Financial work. Their roles and backgrounds are set out on our Meet Our Experts page.
Writers do not publish on subjects outside our operational experience. If we have not handled the document type, the language pair, or the authority in question, we do not write a guide about it.
How We Verify Factual Claims
Claims about official requirements are checked against the source that sets the requirement, not against other translation companies’ websites.
Our verification hierarchy:
- Primary official sources first. UK Government guidance (GOV.UK), the Home Office, HM Passport Office, UK Visas and Immigration, and the receiving authority’s own published requirements.
- Professional and standards bodies. The Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), and the ISO standards we work to: ISO 17100:2015 and ISO 18587.
- Our own project record. What we have actually seen accepted or rejected across the documents we handle.
We do not cite competitor blogs, content aggregators or user-generated forums as authority for a factual claim about certification, acceptance or process.
Where official requirements are known to vary by authority, we say so rather than presenting one route as universal.
Review and Sign-Off
Editorial review
Every draft is reviewed against the source material it relies on. The reviewer checks that each factual statement is supported, that no requirement has been overstated or simplified into inaccuracy, and that the page answers the question a reader actually arrived with.
Specialist review
Pages covering legal, medical, financial, technical or certification-specific subjects are reviewed by the relevant specialist named above before publication.
Final review by our CEO
Ankit Sureka, Founder and CEO of Translations.co.uk, personally reviews content before it is published.
This is not a rubber stamp on a byline. His review covers:
- Accuracy of what we claim about ourselves. Turnaround times, pricing, certification types, language coverage and acceptance claims must match what we actually deliver.
- Accuracy of what we claim about authorities. Any statement about what the Home Office, a court, a university or an overseas authority will accept has to be defensible.
- Whether the page is genuinely useful. Content that exists only to rank, without answering the reader’s question, does not go live.
- Tone on sensitive subjects. Much of our work involves immigration, family law, bereavement and medical documents. Content on these subjects has to be handled with the seriousness the situation deserves.

Our Position on AI-Generated Content
We use translation technology, including machine translation and translation memory, to support high-volume client projects. We do not use AI to produce certified translations, which are 100% human.
The same distinction applies to this website. We may use AI tools to support research or structure during drafting. No page is published as AI output. Every page is written, verified, and signed off by a named person, and the responsibility for accuracy is ours.
We do not publish content that we have not read, verified, and approved, regardless of how it was drafted.
How Often We Update Content
Official requirements change. Fees change, guidance is reissued, and accepted certification formats are revised.
- Pages covering certification requirements, official processes, and pricing are reviewed on a recurring cycle.
- Any page is reviewed immediately when the underlying official guidance changes, or when a reader or client tells us something no longer matches reality.
- Where a page has been substantively updated, we show the last reviewed date. The reviewed date reflects a genuine re-check of the content, not a formatting change.
Corrections
If we publish something inaccurate, we correct it.
Email info@translations.co.uk with the page URL and what you believe is wrong. We respond to correction requests within two working days.
- Factual errors are corrected on the page, and the reviewed date is updated.
- Where a correction materially changes the guidance we previously gave, we note what changed.
- We do not quietly delete pages to make errors disappear.
Independence and Commercial Content
We are a commercial translation company, and our content is written by a company that sells translation services. We are explicit about that rather than pretending otherwise.
What that does not mean:
- We do not accept payment to publish content or to include links to third parties.
- We do not present a service as required by an authority when it is not. If a cheaper or simpler route will be accepted for your situation, our content says so.
- Client examples in our case studies describe work we have carried out. Client names are anonymised.
